IALI is the only national Indian American organization dedicated to increasing civic and political participation by Indian Americans throughout the nation. IALI works to elect Indian Americans to local, state and federal levels of government through the following principles:

IALI supports Indian American candidates through its network of professional campaign, media and political advisors and strategists.

IALI connects a growing nationwide network of Indian Americans and its elected leaders in an effort to increase civic and political participation by the community.

IALI invests in electing Indian American leaders to local, state and federal office by providing crucial resources to candidates.

Founded in 2000, IALI brings together Indian Americans throughout the nation to mobilize the community behind our candidates and to create a representative voice for Indian Americans in all levels of government.

For over a decade, IALI has established relationships with leaders at every level of government, and has supported Indian American candidates who have won elections in many regions of the country, including California, Minnesota, Michigan, New Jersey, Iowa, Ohio, and Kansas, and this list is growing.

IALI is very proud of the Indian American officials serving in government today, and especially those who paved the way for our community as a whole. Starting with Dalip Singh Saund's successful campaign for a Congressional seat in 1956, Indian Americans have a presence on the national political scene that continues to grow strong year after year.

Yet, despite these great accomplishments, Indian Americans remain disproportionately under-represented as compared to other minority groups at the local, state and federal levels of government. By applying our core principles, support, connect and invest, IALI is proud to cultivate and help elect our future leaders to public office, thus further strengthening the political voice of our community across all levels of government.
