Ravi grew up along the Intracoastal Waterway in Terrebonne Parish, where he attended Vandebilt Catholic High School. There, his academic and athletic dedication earned him admission to Princeton University. While pursuing his degree in political science, Ravi developed a strong devotion to public policy, especially in the area of coastal restoration.
Upon graduation, Ravi returned to Louisiana and earned his law degree from Louisiana State University. Ravi then began his legal career as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Stanwood R. Duval, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. His work centered on post-Katrina litigation involving the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), homeowners insurance policies, and the National Flood Insurance Program. After his clerkship, Ravi joined the law firm of McGlinchey Stafford in New Orleans. In his private practice, he handled litigation in many areas of federal law, including those highly relevant to our recent financial crisis, like banking regulation and bankruptcy.
In December 2008, Ravi married his wife Sarah, and they live in Houma, where Ravi’s parents, both immigrants from India, still reside and maintain thriving medical practices. Ravi now works in Houma as a business attorney at the law firm of Duval, Funderburk, Sundbery, Lovell and Watkins. He stays involved with his alma mater, Vandebilt Catholic High School, and attends mass at St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
